Now since my tv ps3 dvd player etc is all in the living room i decided to move the entire setup there so i can connect most of the devices to the router via ethernet cables.
Can i move my dsl modem to another room.
I don t have a phone set up in the house and i don t think any filters are being used also when the guy came to set it up he opened the phone jack and did something.
I m moving into a new house on friday and i want the router located in the second bedroom man cave rather than the living room where it will presumably be installed chances are i ll go with bt infinity and i want the router located near my computer for convenience and to easily have everything wired up.
I have a centurylink modem hooked up downstairs and want to move it to my room upstairs but when i plug it in it wont connect to the dsl.
Currently it is in my bedroom.
The only one that would be viable to move.
The jack where the dsl modem router is plugged into now has 4 ports rj11.
Would be the one downstairs it needs dsl to connect and i have a phone port in my room but when i put the modem upstairs and connect it to power and connect a dsl cable to the phone jack in my wall the dsl and internet lights blink on the modem.

Move centurylink dsl modem to another room.
You can move it just fine.
It turned out that the new 6 0 cordless system that i bought with 5 cordless handsets that don t need their own phone jacks interfered with the dsl wireless signal when they were in the same room.
Help moving a dsl modem from one phone jack to another doesn t work.
The modem is currently connected to the green port.
3 of them are blue colored and one is green.
This is a house and not a condo or apt.
